Script : بسمالله الرحمن الرحیم It’s very strange. Sometimes people try to discourage believers by saying things like: “You’ve worshipped and abided your whole life. Then, just for one small sin, or one shortcoming or delay in your religious duties, you will be punished.” It's funny, they don’t talk about the non-believer being punished. Rather they are trying to persuade the believer to give up their faith and religious life. But, is God really going to punish the believers? Is this how He treats them? I hope you get to read and reflect on the verses related to retribution and chastisement in the Holy Quran. Chastisement is not intended for the believers, nor even for sinners. On the contrary, God is urging those who do wrong to repent, and promises them His forgiveness. The real chastisement is reserved for the enemies of the Ahl-ul Bayt(as), for those who oppose God’s messengers. Everyone is liable to make a mistake or commit a sin, whether it be for greed, rage or lust. But how can you justify enmity with God’s messengers? There can be no reason other than arrogance, other than wanting to rule over people and draw attention to oneself. Worst of all, are those who live amongst people as imposters and falsely promise them happiness and prosperity. «إنَّ المُنافِقینَ فی الدرکِ الأسفَلِ مِنَ النّار». “Surely the imposters will be in the deepest part of the Fire.” The lowest level of Hell. Now we understand for whom chastisement is intended, and to be fair, they deserve it, for the misery they have caused so many people. Two verses later, God says «ما یفعل الله بعذابکم إن شکرتم و آمنتم ». "Why would Allah chastise you if you are thankful and have faith?” – It was never God’s intention to punish you. If only you would trust Him and show some gratitude. The extraordinary thing is that God says He is the All-grateful, the All-knowing. He was the grateful One long before you showed gratitude. What a God! |
