بسمالله الرحمن الرحیم Sometimes Shaytan imposes on us the thought that when God commands something, He and His messengers are just watching from a distance, unaware of our problems and difficulties. Just giving out orders, it seems. And we might even, God forbid, think of these commands as the beginning of our misery, and be like, here we go again! But the Holy Quran tells us the complete opposite. In verse 24 of surah Ṯā-ḥā, God instructs Moses (pbuh) to go to Pharoah. Then Moses asks God to designate an aide and companion for him, and this is where his brother Haroon joins him on the assignment. You might know, we have in narrations that Amir al-Mo’meneen(a) is Prophet Muhammad’s aide in his mission, his risalah. أنت منّی بمَنزِلَه هارون من موسی. Dear Ali, you are to me what Haroon was to Moses. Going back to our discussion, some verses further down, in ayahs 45 and 46 of this same surah, Moses and Haroon are fearful of how brutally Pharoah will respond to them. They said, ‘Our Lord, we fear lest he may crack down on us or that he may act arrogantly.’ - قَالَا رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ. أَن يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَا، أَوْ أَن يَطْغَى. God tells them not to fear قَالَ لَا تَخَافَا إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَی I am with you, I see and I hear. Moses, Haroon, when I tell you to do something, would I leave you alone? Is it even imaginable that God would send His beloved one on an assignment and then abandon him to his own devices? But we have to remember, they are not meant to visibly prevail in this world. Imam Hossein(a), one of God’s most beloved souls, what we see is that he is alone in Karbala. But God is there, and sees him. As for us and the things we are commanded to do, do you think God really does not know how challenging it can be to observe the daily prayers or to fast? Of course He does. When He tells me to fast, He gives me strength, on the condition that I honestly want to fast. He never expects us to bear the burden on our own. He is always there for us. |
